Gold. Her fur shone gold. In the dawnlight.
Dawn painted the sky and the aura of it melted into the Saluki's feathered fur. It looked like the cirrus clouds playing in the morning sky. Caelo tipped her face high, carrying herself with the royal carraige of her breed. She stopped, staring into the reed-filled lake. God had painted the dawn there as well.
Caelo's throat was dry and she walked close to the water's edge. She licked it carefully at first and found the water good enough for her fine palette. She drank more, thirst fading. The gold saluki lifted her head, she was thirsty but not tired. Her deep chest breathed calmly.
And she remembered the journey here. Caelo wagged her feathered tail, the cirrus banner streaked the air gold as she remembered.
The storm had been intense and felt like the heavens answered to her plea.
Please release me from this fate...
She remembered the boat rocking madly and being thrown into the sea. But Caelo swam, her eyes seeing the island in the distance. She didn't tire from the swim, she felt invigorated by it... as if chains had been broken. She was free. Caelo ran, thirsty from the taste of salt.water in her mouth. And here she was. Facing the dawn-gold lake.
She was free now.
She turned, her nose had caught the whiff of another dog. Caelo's voice was soft, "Who's there?"

The silent breeze whipped around in the air as the Alaskan Malamute walked along the Earth, her paws matching in a peaceful trot. Her black and white fur was moving as she trotted onward, the breeze now gone.
Dakota glanced up to the sky as she continued along the hard landscape. The colors of dawn were extended across the sky, and she smiled. Dawn was her favorite time of the day. She had gotten up quite early today, a new kind of exhilaration in her veins and blood. The female was so active today...
Just then, she stopped. Her nose was now in motion, tracking a scent she hadnt caught until now. "A new dog... She smells like saltw{a}ter..." She snorted in disgust of the smell. She didnt like the smell of the salt in the ocean. Dakota slowly began to trot again, this time going closer and closer to the scent.
She passed through the trees as she walked, and the lake was soon in view. The female was hidden behind the ferns, and looked over at the golden shape that was next to the lakes edge. "Hmm..." She thought.
Just then, she herd the dogs words.
"Who's there?"
Dakota sighed as she stepped out of the ferns, and looked at the Saluki. "Dont worry, its just me, Dakota." She murmured as she halted just off of the new female.
OOC: ... Sorry for the saltw{a}ter thing... Whirly needs to change her censored words so we can say w{a}ter without the {}'s...

Dakota... I guess the name suits her...
Caelo's gold brown eyes glanced to check over the Malamute. Judging the newcomer, the Saluki nodded. She held her tail high, despite her thinner, obviously weaker frame. Caelo considered herself royalty, and so far, Dakota hasn't voiced herself as dominant. The Saluki bitch was happy to take the throne. Power was what she sought, what had been denied her all these years. She was a slave, yes? Yes, very much so. And she was free now.
Looking to the lake, Caelo's singing bark called Dakota's attention. "From the tempest, I presume? I know this isn't the climate for such a warm coated dog like yourself." She spoke in clear words, waiting for the Malamute's response. Her eyes glanced back, to make sure that Dakota was thinking of a reply... or at least looking like she was thinking of a reply...

Dakota shifted her paws uneasily as she watched the Saluki until she finally spoke. "Um... Yeah..." She murmured softly, her paws stopping in place in front of her.
The Malamute turned her head to the ocean, then back to the Saluki. She saw the saltwater running down the golden dogs fur, and thought she had been swimming for a while. "Hey, where have you been swimming from? Your fur is quite wet..." She couldnt help but chuckle at the dogs appearance, for she had never seen a Saluki. She did not know of their ancient history, nor how possibly rare they could be.
The female sighed as she sat down and lifted her hind leg to scratch an itch behind her right ear. Moments later, she lowered her leg and gazed back at the Saluki. "Oh! You still havnt said what your name is yet." She said softly, her tail lightly waving in the warm breeze. Dakota looked back at the sky. "Id better go and gte breakfast soon..." She thought to herself as she turned her attentions back to the Saluki again.

A smile danced upon the Saluki's lips. She could smell the saltwater from her own coat and wondered why the Malamute would need to know. She said, "Can you not smell the sea? I stink of the salt." With that, she jumped into the lake, knife like in her lean form. Her golden fur darkened and she stepped out of the water again. She was almost feline in her dislike of water. "Don't like it, but anything to get the salt out of my fur." She shook the water off dramatically, causing a shower of water drop crystals. She stood regally in front of the Malamute, her tail held like a banner.
"I am Caelo." She raised her long muzzle a bit higher in an almost snobby nobility. Her tail held high, despite its usual position beside her hocks. She wagged it slightly, answering the Malamute's hello; but this was done out of politeness than out of friendliness. The golden dog perked her ears, curious. "You are hungry? I am, too." And the Saluki was bred to kill. It was a hunting dog, perfectly adapted to chase quarry and kill it. She stood solidly on her long, stilt-like legs. She looked fragile, but in reality was as strong and speedy as a horse.
